 I have been a civil designer, drafter, drafting manager and survey tech/crew since 1972. I’ve been using AutoCAD since 1986 with several years as a software developer specializing in civil/survey applications for AutoCAD. I passed my LSIT (Land Surveyor in Training) exam in 2006. MVE Civil Solutions Santa Ana, CA (11/16/2009 - Present)

Survey CAD Technician, responsible for construction staking calculations. This position takes advantage of my surveying and civil design experience. I cross check the civil plans against the architectural and structural drawing to make sure all three are using the same measurements. I calculate and provide the survey party chiefs with the information they need to establish horizontal and vertical control. I then furnish them with plots and point files for staking; rough grade, overexcavation limits, building grids, utilities, curb and gutter, storm drains and any other items specified in the performance contract.

Converting clients field notes and sketches into detailed topographic maps and plans using the latest CAD technology (AutoCAD Land Development Desktop. I have prepared client’s site layout, structure as-built or raw field data for presentation. I have converted hand sketches into presentation quality drawings. I have also provided custom AutoCAD programming and menu customization.

  • Contracted to draft survey drawings. Most of the CAD work (95%) done for CPI has been creating topographic maps from field survey data. The rest of the work was ALTA drawings, record of survey sheets and final maps. I also wrote many custom programs for CPI, including one that translated their numeric point codes (field data) into complex descriptions of features and automatically inserted symbols (to scale). Prunuske Chatham Inc, Occidental, CA (1998-1999)

Employed as CAD/Graphics Technician to produce all CAD maps, construction drawings and report graphics. This also included field work doing topographic surveys, followed by reducing the field notes and creating the project maps. Many of the maps and plans created included scanned, hand drawn renderings, aerial and digital photos and were used for permit submittals to the Army Corp of Engineers and the Department of Fish and Game.

  • FCAD Inc, Novato, CA - Contracted to provide support and technical assistance to FCAD Inc for FelixCAD, an AutoCAD clone software product.
  • Microsurvey Software Inc, Kelowna, BC, Canada - Contracted to provide custom programming of road design, plan/ profiles, cross section extraction and plotting, cross section template editor, sewer plan/profile, water main layout functions for Microsurvey CAD Pro.
  • Sundance Software Inc., Westbank, BC, Canada - Employed as CAD Development Manager
  • City of Tacoma GIS Project City of Tacoma Public Utilities, Tacoma, WA - Employed as Applications Specialist working on GIS applications using AutoCAD and ARC/Info.
  • ASG Sausalito, CA, Employed as Civil Applications Specialist working on ASG TOPO, COGO and ROADS applications. ASG's TOPO software application was listed tops in CADalyst in 1992.
  • Scott & Scott Seattle, WA - Instrumental in developing MunMap Power, the combination of an electric power distribution and analysis software product AutoCAD, several databases and GEO/Sql, a mapping and GIS application.
